Sealing components for food & beverage

Food and beverage processing equipment requires gaskets, washers, and O-rings that comply with FDA 21 CFR 177 food-contact requirements. Cannon Gasket supplies custom FDA-grade components for food processors, dairy plants, beverage bottlers, and food-service-equipment OEMs.

Where food & beverage sealing shows up

  • Sanitary piping and clamp gaskets
  • CIP-rated process seals
  • Beverage dispenser O-rings
  • Packaging machinery gaskets
  • Dairy processing seals
  • Oven and steam-table gaskets

Sealing Applications and Material Selection

Process equipment such as mixers, reactors, and fittings runs on FDA silicone, EPDM, and white Buna-N compounds, while sanitary tri-clamp and dairy fittings call for drinking-water-grade EPDM and FDA silicone. Filling and dispensing seals in direct food contact use FDA silicone and platinum-cured grades, and conveyor and packaging lines combine UHMW and Delrin washers for moving parts with FDA elastomer washers where a seal is needed. Cleaning-cycle compatibility is a separate concern. For CIP and SIP systems that handle hot caustics and acids, Cannon supplies peroxide-cured EPDM, which holds up to those chemistries where standard grades would not.

Materials We Supply for Food and Beverage

Cannon stocks FDA-grade silicone in both standard and platinum-cured forms, FDA EPDM in sulfur and peroxide cures, white Buna-N, FDA neoprene, UHMW, FDA HDPE and LDPE, virgin PTFE, and USP Class VI compounds. The cure system and base polymer are matched to the application so that food-contact surfaces, cleaning chemistries, and operating temperatures are all covered by the right grade rather than a single default material.

Production and Quality Considerations

FDA-critical components are produced in a Class 10,000 clean room, and every shipment carries FDA compliance documentation. Parts are marked with pad-printed lot codes so each run stays traceable. Where required, parts ship in sanitary packaging, clean room bagged and supplied with FDA-compatible adhesive PSA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions from food & beverage buyers.

Are you ISO 9001 certified?
Yes, ISO 9001:2015 certified. Documented quality management covers incoming material verification, in-process inspection, calibrated measurement, final inspection, non-conformance handling, corrective action, and full lot traceability. AS9100-ready for aerospace, with MIL-spec and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 / USP Class VI grades available on request.
Do food-grade parts go through the clean room?
On request. Most food-grade parts do not require ISO 7 clean-room fabrication, but we can run them through the clean room for drug-contact or sterile-fill applications where contamination control matters.
Do you serve general industrial OEMs?
Yes. Automotive, Electronics, Industrial Controls, HVAC, Plumbing, Irrigation, Pool & Spa, and Marine programs all run custom gaskets and washers through our Fontana facility. JIT, VMI, and Kanban replenishment available on ongoing programs.
Do you supply FDA-compliant food-grade gaskets?
Yes. FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 silicone, EPDM, and Buna-N compounds for food, beverage, and dairy fluid-path equipment. Specify the regulation on your drawing and we match the compound.
Which regulated industries do you serve?
Aerospace (AS9100-ready), Medical & FDA (ISO 7 clean room, USP Class VI), Food & Beverage (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600), Oil & Gas (chemical-resistant elastomers), and Defense (US-based production, MIL-spec compounds).
How fast do you return a quote?
Most RFQs come back within one business day. Simple profile updates to an existing tool quote same-day. Send a drawing, DXF, or competing part number and our engineering team reviews material, tolerance, and volume before pricing.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimums depend on the part and material. We cut prototype and first-article quantities for engineering evaluation, then scale up to production volumes from the same tooling. For high-volume programs we run JIT, VMI, and Kanban replenishment out of Fontana, California.
What should I send with an RFQ?
Ideal: a drawing or DXF, material spec (or compound family), estimated annual volume, and any regulatory callouts (FDA, USP Class VI, AS9100, MIL-spec). If you only have a sample or a part number from a competing supplier, send that and we will reverse-engineer the spec before quoting.
What are typical lead times?
Prototype and first-article parts usually ship in 5-10 business days. Production runs from existing tooling are 2-3 weeks depending on volume and material lead time. Rush and expedite options available on a case-by-case basis.
