Vegetable fiber (also called fibre or oil paper) is an economical cellulose-based gasket material impregnated with oil or glycerin. It is widely specified for low-pressure cover gaskets, fuel pump joints, and economical industrial sealing where pressures and temperatures are modest.

Properties of Vegetable Fiber gaskets
Cannon Gasket cuts Vegetable Fiber gaskets to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of 0.010" to 0.125" thickness. Good resistance to oils, fuels, and mechanical stress. Moderate performance with water; not recommended for high temperatures or aggressive chemicals.
Vegetable Fiber tolerances and customization
Standard dimensional tolerances on Vegetable Fiber gaskets land around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. How Vegetable Fiber Performs

Where Vegetable Fiber Gaskets Are Specified
Fuel pump covers, oil pan covers, carburetor gaskets, valve cover gaskets in some applications, and a wide range of light-duty industrial and automotive aftermarket sealing.
When to Choose Another Material
For high-pressure or high-temperature service, specify compressed fiber, graphite, or solid rubber. Vegetable fiber is a low-pressure specification.
