Why specify SBR for rubber washers?

SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) is the most economical solid elastomer washer in our inventory. Cannon Gasket die-cuts custom SBR washers for indoor industrial assemblies where moderate performance is acceptable and unit cost is the driving factor.

Properties of SBR rubber washers

Cannon Gasket cuts SBR rubber washers to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of 20A to 80A Shore hardness. Water, dilute acids, alcohols, and ketones. Not suitable for petroleum oils, fuels, or strong solvents.

SBR tolerances and customization

Standard dimensional tolerances on SBR rubber washersland around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. Tighter tolerances are available on select grades. Cannon Gasket cuts SBR to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.

How SBR Performs in Washer Applications

- Good abrasion resistance and tensile strength. - Moderate water and dilute acid resistance. - Poor resistance to oil, fuel, ozone, weather.

Common Washer Applications

Dust covers, indoor vibration pads, sealed assemblies not exposed to oil or sunlight, and applications where unit cost is the priority.

When Another Material Is the Better Specification

Any oil / outdoor / temperature exposure rules out SBR — specify Buna-N, EPDM, or Viton.
