Why specify HDPE for plastic washers?

HDPE is a versatile engineering polyethylene with excellent chemical resistance and good mechanical properties at low cost. Cannon Gasket die-cuts and machines custom HDPE washers for chemical processing, fluid handling, food contact, and general industrial applications. Food-contact grades are approved by the FDA, NSF, and USDA.

Properties of HDPE plastic washers

Cannon Gasket cuts HDPE plastic washers to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of Shore D 60–70. Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, alcohols, and most aqueous solutions. FDA-approved resins available.

HDPE tolerances and customization

Standard dimensional tolerances on HDPE plastic washersland around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. Tighter tolerances are available on select grades. Cannon Gasket cuts HDPE to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.

How HDPE Performs

- Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, alcohols, and many solvents. - FDA-compliant grades for food and beverage contact. - Good impact resistance. - Lower cost than UHMW with most of the chemical performance.

Common Washer Applications

When to Choose Another Material

For higher wear resistance, UHMW. For higher temperature, PEEK or polypropylene. For aggressive solvents, PTFE.
