Vulcanized fibre is a cellulose-based laminated material with excellent electrical insulating properties. Cannon Gasket die-cuts custom fibre washers for electrical insulation, fastener load distribution, and economical industrial assemblies.

Properties of Fibre plastic washers

Cannon Gasket cuts Fibre plastic washers to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of N/A (rigid thermoset). Good resistance to most organic solvents, transformer oils, and non-aqueous chemicals. Absorbs moisture in high-humidity environments.

Fibre tolerances and customization

Standard dimensional tolerances on Fibre plastic washersland around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. Tighter tolerances are available on select grades. Cannon Gasket cuts Fibre to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.

How Fibre Performs

- Good electrical insulator (dielectric strength varies with grade and humidity). - Tough, machinable, takes a clean shear. - Available in grades from soft (fish paper) to hard (commercial / electrical).

Common Washer Applications

Electrical insulator washers under bolt heads, fastener load-distribution washers, automotive aftermarket sealing, low-cost mechanical assemblies, and applications where a non-conductive paper-format washer is needed.

When to Choose Another Material

For high humidity stability, Nomex or phenolic. For high temperature, Kapton or phenolic.
